Intelligent Formulation – Business Development Manager. Up to £40k plus benefits.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially-minded and entrepreneurial individual to join a highly motivated team and help drive growth through business development at Intelligent Formulation Limited (IF).  Formed just over two years ago, IF has successfully established a position as a leading provider of R&D and Innovation Services in the area of Formulation Technology. Working in close Partnership with leading companies such as P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Syngenta and AstraZeneca, IF is guided by an Industry Steering Group drawn from all industries which rely on Formulation Technology to underpin their business success (e.g. Pharmaceuticals, Home and Personal Care, Food, Agrochemicals, Coatings, Speciality Chemicals).

IF offers services in the area of formulation technology which include:

• Network Partnership offer which includes a range of bundled services and promotional opportunities.
• technical or techno-commercial consultancy assignments.
• technology scouting assignments.
• innovation / R&D project brokerage and project management, involving one or more delivery partners.
• multi-company collaborative R&D projects.
• in-company or multi-company innovation workshops.
• technical and related CPD training (bespoke or open).
• technical seminars, conferences and open innovation events.

IF’s Business Development team is responsible for

• identifying new opportunities for IF and its Partner and client companies
• developing and maintaining contacts with IF’s client companies
• determining the needs of those companies in the area of innovation in formulation
• defining and delivering commercial services to meet the client’s needs.

Reporting to IF’s Head of Business Development, the job-holder will be responsible for direct client relationships and securing business to drive growth and deliver income for IF. The successful candidate will

• be a highly commercial, hands-on and customer-focused individual.
• demonstrate the ability to interact with SMEs, large multinationals and academia.
• be a strong networker, culturally aware with the ability to build long-term relationships.
• have a track record of delivering commercial success in an area such as R&D and Innovation services or technical consultancy.
• be qualified to degree level in a relevant scientific discipline.
• have several years direct experience and understanding of at least one industry where product formulation plays a key role.
• be able to demonstrate self-motivation, drive and tenacity in commercial situations.
• have well-developed team-working, communications and influencing skills and be able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
• possess good IT skills and have good financial awareness.

The role offers a salary of up to £40k plus benefits. Our office is in W.Yorkshire but the role could potentially be home-office based in the UK as long as regular client contacts can be ensured.
