The application of a film-coating polymer onto the surface of a substrate such as a tablet or a pellet is a standard process in the pharmaceutical industry. However, the process involves selecting and formulating the optimum ratio of plasticizer to polymer, to ensure the coating adheres successfully. It is a challenge to establish the correct pigments, and the necessary concentrations and combinations to achieve a particular colour.
